NYC Mayor-Elect Eric Adams will Take First 3 Paychecks in Bitcoin

This new announcement comes just 2-days after Eric Adams said that he would receive his next paycheck completely in BTC.

In a major boost to the adoption of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, the Mayor-Elect of New York City, Eric Adams, has said that he will receive his first 3 paychecks in bitcoin (BTC). This new announcement comes just 2-days after Eric Adams said that he would receive his next paycheck completely in BTC.

Eric Adams tweeted:

"In New York we always go big, so I’m going to take my first THREE paychecks in Bitcoin when I become mayor… NYC is going to be the center of the cryptocurrency industry and other fast-growing, innovative industries! Just wait!"

His decision comes days after his Miami counterpart announced his decision to receive money in the form of cryptocurrencies. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez tweeted on November 2, 2021, that he would take his next paycheck completely in terms of BTC, thereby becoming the first US politician to receive payments in cryptos.

Yesterday, the mayor-elect of NYC vowed to Bloomberg that he would look into the factors that are preventing the growth of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the city. Eric Adams also promised to develop "New York Coin", which is very similar to the Miami mayor’s implementation. In his comments to Bloomberg, Adams said, "We’re going to look in the direction to carry that out."

Reports say that the adoption of bitcoin by two prominent politicians will further push the adoption of cryptocurrencies.
