Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC Theaters, received an overwhelming response to a Twitter poll he posted on September 21, 2021. In the poll he asked: “I sincerely want to hear your opinion, via this Twitter Poll. By year-end 2021, AMC will take Bitcoin, Etherum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash for online payments. I hear from many on my Twitter feed that we should accept Dogecoin too. Do you think AMC should explore accepting Dogecoin?” In response, it received 140,388 votes, out of which “Yes, for sure do it” received 68.1% votes.
Following this positive response, on Wednesday, Adam Aron announced that his AMC Theaters chain will officially start accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) as payment for digital gift cards through BitPay Wallet.
After this announcement, the Dogecoin community tweeted overwhelmingly advocating the integration of DOGE within the payment options of AMC Theaters. This successful initiative will enable users to buy digital gift cards worth up to US$200 per day. Users can redeem these gift cards throughout the US in the cinemas belonging to the AMC Theaters chain.
With more than 6 million views and 140,000 votes on his September 21, 2021 post, Aron was pleasantly surprised. Reports say that the DOGE fans such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk and billionaire investor Mark Cuban have also participated. The CEO of AMC Theaters called his September 21’s tweet as his “most retweeted, most replied, most liked tweet ever.”
